Remember positions, not just symbols
Reveal two cards per attempt. Matching values stay revealed and unmatched cards turn face down again. Pick a consistent way to name positions, such as row and column, so a remembered symbol has an address.
Use the first card to choose the second
If the first reveal matches a card you remember, go directly to its known position. If it does not, use the second reveal to explore a new area. Turning two already-known mismatches gives little extra information.
Reduce competing memories
Work through the board in a consistent scan instead of hopping between unrelated positions. After clearing a pair, update your mental map: those positions no longer need attention. Watch unmatched cards before the game hides them again.
Measure attention without racing
First aim to clear the board while making fewer repeated mistakes. A faster completion can follow from remembering well, but speed alone is not the rule for success. A new game changes the arrangement, so a position remembered from a previous board may no longer help.
