What did this solve teach?
You met the complete win condition. Compare the written route below with your own moves. Identify one deduction you can explain without looking at the answer, and one place where a changed mark could invalidate the next conclusion.
Rules and proof limits
Put one tent beside each tree, directly above, below, left or right. Each tent belongs to one different tree. Tents cannot touch, even diagonally. The row and column counts give the required number of tents. Mark grass where a tent cannot go.
An adjacent tree is necessary for a tent but does not prove the square must contain one. A tent beside two trees cannot serve both. Completed counts and non-touching tents still require a valid one-to-one matching. The introductory exercises do not teach every matching deduction needed by harder boards.
Show the checked route from the starting position (9 steps)
This route starts from the original study position. It does not describe moves you made differently. Use “Explain a next step” for a deduction from your current marks.
- A row or column clue of zero allows no tents. Mark R1C1, R1C2, R1C3, R1C4, R1C5, R1C6, R3C1, R3C2, R3C3, R3C4, R3C5, R5C2, R6C2 as grass; tree squares stay unchanged.
- R2C5, R4C4, R5C3, R6C6 have no tree directly above, below, left or right. A diagonal tree is not sufficient, so these squares are grass.
- Row 2 needs 3 tents and already has 0. Its 3 remaining candidate squares must all be tents because every candidate is needed.
- Row 6 needs 2 tents and already has 0. Its 2 remaining candidate squares must all be tents because every candidate is needed.
- The tent at R6C3 excludes all touching squares, including diagonals. Mark R5C4 as grass.
- The tent at R6C5 excludes all touching squares, including diagonals. Mark R5C6 as grass.
- Row 5 needs 1 tents and already has 0. Its 1 remaining candidate square must all be tents because every candidate is needed.
- The tent at R5C1 excludes all touching squares, including diagonals. Mark R4C1 as grass.
- Row 4 needs 2 tents and already has 0. Its 2 remaining candidate squares must all be tents because every candidate is needed.

Final check
Row and column counts match, tents do not touch, and a complete one-to-one assignment exists between trees and adjacent tents.
